A class project at Hunter College High School in New York City entails caring for a sophisticated baby simulation. Unlike an egg or a sack of flour, this little bugger responds to a student’s wireless ID bracelet over a smart sensor in its back.
One of the coolest features is a patented neck whose sensors detect if it’s been bumped about or not supported correctly, causing a unique cry. The nifty little device also registers the three main baby care activities, feeding, burping and changing diapers – the requisites of any feisty infant, if you ask me.
The real challenge is figuring out which setting to use. Students can opt for the easy or medium options, but it is best to stick to the program’s recommended settings of nine to 15 minutes between cries.
There are plenty of other gizmos in the Real Care Baby 3 box, but this list of the finalists is by no means exhaustive. It’s a good idea to consult the teacher before launching into your own escapade. The best luck will likely be in the hands of the winner. The best of the luck may be a newfound appreciation for babies or at least an ingenious teacher.
